The relationship you have with your dog is surely good. The relationship of your dog with the neighbors is a different story. Sometimes, pets may be noisy and a nuisance so complaints can be valid. Dog education matters here and is key to a healthy environment. We must be tolerant and understand that animals are not to blame for mistakes. Their owners are though. Owners should keep in mind that not everyone likes dogs. Owners should be aware of this and respect it. Many neighbors complain that dogs bark when their owners are not home. This may be due to a behavioral issue or physical concern and a consequent lack of well-being on the part of the animal so it is good that our neighbors let us know.

Education and Training

Living in society does not mean we should limit other people’s freedom to have ours respected.  We must instead put ourselves in their shoes to fully understand what is going on. Both dog owners and dog haters will benefit from mutual understanding. We must listen, be patient and come to a living agreement. Dog owners should be familiar with the rights and responsibilities involved when owning a dog. This involves knowing rules, training, knowing communication rules and creating a safe environment. It also takes learning and informing ourselves. All this should be mandatory for a dog owner. It would be interesting to require knowledge of rules and training to prove the capacity to own a dog. We could also create healthy living conditions with our neighbors. We can achieve all this if we are responsible for a start.
