An American Bulldog, Stella was discovered in critical condition at an abandoned house. She lay still on the floor as though waiting to die. She could see the vet before it was too late, thanks to Louisa, her savior and forever mother.
Stella was immediately cared for by the veterinarians. They tried to stabilize her, but she only had a 50% chance of life. They admitted her to critical care, and while they weren't sure she'd survive, they hoped.
Stella's condition improved significantly after three days, and the physicians decided to discharge her. However, she continued to get medical treatment at home, ate healthful meals, and was given vitamins and other supplements. As a result, she was physically healthier but still emotionally unstable.
Stella needed to be more interested in something. She did nothing except lay on her bed and observe what was happening around her. She refused to connect with anyone and refused to play. But when Lucas came, everything changed.
Lucas was Louisa's foster puppy at the time. He had the energy to play all day despite his young age. And, even though he had five other dogs to play with, he chose to play with Stella.
Stella, at first, disregarded Lucas. She tried to avoid him, but he was too persistent. He was continually around her and didn't stop even when she didn't react. Then, one day, he did it and got her to play with him.
Stella was unstoppable after that. She instigated playtimes, and he was always ready to oblige. She grew more active due to him, and she recovered faster.
Stella now likes going on outings with her mother and four dog siblings. She is highly interested in the world and will go to any length to learn about it. She adores nature and will spend every available moment outside.
