Ddol lived with his father and grandmother for around seven years. Every day he accompanied them to work, and he was always there to cheer them up after a difficult day. But suddenly, a catastrophic incident occurred – their house was entirely destroyed by a fire.
The dog’s owner received extensive second-degree burns, and his grandmother perished. Having no home or family, the poor canine was abandoned. He fended for himself, scavenged for food, and longed for his father day and night.
The neighbors observed the dog’s struggle for survival. They observed him searching for food in the garbage and checking out people’s faces to see if they were his owners. Finally, a worried neighbor reached out to a local rescue organization for assistance.
The rescuers conducted their own investigation and found out that Ddol’s father was hospitalized in Seoul. They visited him and showed him a video of the dog’s condition. He wept when he saw that his beloved pet had been suffering. But his condition rendered him useless right now, and all he could do was soothe his dog through the monitor.
Ddol undoubtedly had a strong relationship with his father, and the rescuers did not want to end that. They planned a way to capture him, and once he was safe with them, they took him directly to the veterinarian’s office. The staff treated him and prepared him for the eventual reunion with his father.
Ddol felt uneasy because of the abrupt change in his environment. He refused to eat and averted his gaze whenever someone approached.
One day, he heard the audio recording of his father’s voice and he listened intently and responded to what he said. He carefully rose to his feet and ate his food.
The rescuers monitored Ddol and his father. They ensured their improvement as the days passed. And once they determined that they were both ready, they reconnected the pair.
Ddol instantly recognized his father. He ran towards him and lavished him with wet kisses. After a long time of waiting, he was overjoyed to be reunited with the most important person in his life.
